Kyoto Chair

The designer Wolf Udo Wagner created the Kyoto chair based on Origami – the Japanese art of folding paper. Inspired by natural shapes and leaves, he transmitted the impressions to clear shapes like the ones being generated when folding paper. Point of origin was a plant’s leaf, folded in a way that from this a masterpiece for a comfortable and aesthetic seat and back shell could be made.

LOMME (Light Over Matter Mind Evolution) - Cycle13

LOMME is a unique relaxation and sleep experience, which is a bridge between nature, design and functionality. LOMME was an idea by Camberwell Art student Agnieszka Bernacka, who leads the team that created what you see today.

LOMME stands for “Light Over Matter Mind Evolution”, meaning our body is influenced by light and therefore our mind and matter is transformed.

LOMME is a place to go, safe relaxing and comfortable and engaging at the same time with enough space to be experienced for two people. The combination of all those elements of nature, art, design and functionality of colour, light, sound and massage therapy creates a new understanding of how to improve quality of life and get a better understanding of oneself.

Suzanna Thornton graduated in 2006 from University College for Creative Arts, Farnham where she majored in Ba Hons degree Three Dimensional Design, (2.1) concentrating on liquid glass, a versatile and illusive medium. She currently is a glassmaker, specialising in creating free blown, decorative crystal glassware from molten crystal intended for the modern interior. Each piece is individual and unique and are made to order. The signature pieces are tactile and extremely solid, they add a blast of colour, hint of sophistication and sensuality, varying in function and form and are made to last a lifetime. The designer one off piece's are great as a centre piece and work well as a small collection, all are free blown using traditional colour overlay technique encased in layers of molten crystal to highlight reflections and refractions.

The process is exciting and spontaneous; She uses traditional glassblowing skills and tools to manipulate the glass while it is hot, dictating the form inside to create an irregular and asymmetric form which makes each piece unique. Once cold each piece is cut open and highly polished to reveal the mysterious interior which then contrasts the exterior form.
